Family Futures has a simple and ambitious mission: to shape a community that protects children from abuse and neglect. We achieve this mission through advocacy, coordination and education using the support of volunteers and community members.

Family Futures believes in the power of prevention and understands that in order to protect children, we must strengthen families. Using the Strenthening Families Approach, Family Futures promotes six Protective Factors that research shows work to build healthier families and communities.

These include: Understanding parenting and child development; Building a supportive network of family, friends and neighbors; Promoting emotional and social development in children; Fostering resilient parents and Connecting families to basic support in times of need.

 

Strengthen Kent County Families

Family Futures is committed to helping parents be the best they can be by providing education and support. We make a point of partnering with other groups to bring about the best possible results for parents and families. Since the challenges we face vary widely, we seek partnerships that bring uniquely innovative solutions. Our success depends upon community investment. Families in Kent County are stronger when they have the support of our entire community. The list below outlines how your support can strengthen Kent County families:

$5,000 supports 30 first time parents by providing 20 support phone calls through Healthy Start

$2,500 enables three families to receive weekly home visits from a Family Support Worker through Healthy Start

$1,000 trains 333 professionals on how to identify and report child abuse and neglect

$500 provides 20 families with developmental screening and child development information through Connections

$250 empowers 25 teens with education designed to prevent dating violence through Resources Against Violent Encounters
